Day at the Races – Photo workshop
Join Linda Finstad for a day at the horse races, we will explore camera settings to help you capture sharp and compelling images of both the race and finish line. However there is much more to see and photograph than just the moment of glory as the winner races to victory. Our goal will be to create a “picture story” that will define the very essence of the track, in a photo journalistic manner. You will learn how to use depth of field setting to isolate your subject to create beautiful portraits.  This is a fast paced assignment and you will learn how to think like a sports photographer and make sure you are in the right place at the right time to capture the “Money Shot”. You will need a camera with manual settings DSLR (point and shoot cameras  - are not fast enough to reliably capture this kind of action).
Spirit of the West – Photo Workshop at the Rodeo
You have never truly experienced the cowboy life style until you have been to a small town  - outdoor rodeo. They are held under the same conditions of heat, dust or mud as the original events 150 years ago and it is where the true spirit of Rodeo lives on.
This is an action packed photo opportunity  - but poses lots of challenges to the photographer. Linda Finstad, a seasoned event photographer will guide you throughout the afternoon ensuring you get some spectacular shots. Don’t dress fancy  - because to get the best shots you often have to be down in the dirt along with the cowboy.  Most every ride whether its bare back broncs or bulls ends up with the cowboy face down in the dirt. Real cowboys are not a thing of the past like knights, they still embrace the wild west lifestyle, the toughness the daring, the skills, you wont see many tourists at these events, this isn’t for show it is the real deal.
