As of July 1, 2004, all onsite wastewater professionals wishing to design and install private sewage systems in the Province of Alberta are required to successfully complete the Installer's Training Program.  The 6-day training program is comprised of two three-day sessions.  Participants must complete all six days of the training program.  Upon successful completion of the training program, participants will receive a Certificate of Training which must be presented in order to obtain or maintain a Private Sewage Disposal System (PSDS) ticket.  A current PSDS ticket is required to pull design and installation permits for the installation of private sewage systems.

As of April 1, 2008, plumbers were added to the list of professionals required to successfully complete the Installer's Training Program and as of December 31, 2008, all Safety Codes Officers have also been required to successfully complete this training.

The Installer's Training Program is a six-day program divided into two three-day sessions.  Participants must complete Days 1 - 3 prior to attending Days 4 - 6.  Participants may complete their training at different venues in order to accommodate personal scheduling committments, however it is recommended that training be completed as soon as possible in order to optimize the learning experience.

Training sessions are held throughout the year on a supply and demand basis. Those interested in receiving further information on this training program should contact the AOWMA office at 780.489.7471 or email the administrator@aowma.com.
